Supporting the Arts in the Community

Jim is an avid supporter of the arts in the community. He does this by giving free lessons to individuals and groups that cannot afford it; and by supporting worthwhile non-profit organizations.
Some of the organizations that Jim supports are:

Suncoast Voices for Children

Suncoast Voices for Children provides for the unmet physical, psychological, educational, and social needs of abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. Since 2004, they have met the needs of thousands of children, from newborns to young adults. Many of the young people they serve work closely with case managers and therapists to work through their trauma.
This process often involves art therapy, which helps individuals find coping strategies without having to relive their trauma. Individuals can draw on memories through art by using a sculpture or drawing to convey how they are feeling instead of speaking out loud. Sometimes, the children just enjoy art as an outlet, a stress reliever. Whether it is a hobby or therapy, we always encourage them to continue creating.

Recently, they started collecting some of these art pieces for display at events and to help connect donors with the children served by their generous contributions. While the identity of the child remains anonymous, the connection is very real and the feedback received is always positive.

Jim has supported Suncoast Voices for Children by providing the funds for art supplies for the children for the year. He is also working with Suncoast Voices for Children to identify opportunities where the children’s work can be exhibited to wider audience in the community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

The organization (serving Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Sumter, Marion and Alachua), has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Jim has supported BBBS by donating paintings for the annual gala silent auction as well as sponsoring a match.
