Crucifixion
The Crucifixion as
a contemporary event. The sacred image stripped of its consolation and placed
where the bodies actually are. Migration, war, the transit of people no one is
waiting to receive. The figure on the cross is not a symbol here, it is a body.
One of thousands that did not arrive. The ideals we proclaim and the reality we
create in the silence between the headlines. These paintings do not ask for
pity. They ask what we have done with two thousand years of knowing
better.
