Encoded
An earlier body of work. Some carry Morse code across the surface: love
and hate, feelings compressed into signal instead of image. Others have
sections of the face scraped away entirely. Depression, loss. What lies underneath
and cannot be read. These were the paintings that made the problem clear. The
face alone was not enough. What needed saying could not be said through
likeness.
